Squidoo

Squidoo is an online social networking site. Kind of a simplified and more grown-up version of MySpace. You can create "lens" of your favorite topics.

Here are the lenses that I've made so far.

This one is about web-based tools that you can use to grow your business

This lesn is about using VOIP to cut down on your international long distance bills.

The Story Behind Netstralogy Contender

Netstralogy Contender is a subscription-based website maintenance and support service that offers unlimited website updates for only $19.95 a month.

We came up with this idea when I noticed that most small businesses are not regulary updating their websites. When I started asking, the most common response I got was "we don't really have the need to" - especially when their needs for update is minimal. A lot of those I asked says that they try to do it themselves.

So I thought of something that's affordable and reasonable. I did the math and some analysis and this is what we've came up with. Maintenance work will be done by sessions. The maintenance package would cover just basic text and image updates - which covers exactly what they just need. They get unlimited updates per session - one page, 10 pages or all the pages on their website and it would be covered in that session.

E-mail Spammers Latest Tricks

Email spammers are constantly using new ways to trick anti-spam softwares. I have Norton Antivirus and it doesnt seem to catch most of the spams that I am getting.

Below is a common stock market spam that have been flooding my inbox for the past few months. I get at least 30 to 50 of these a day.

_____________________________________________________________
Subject: re: Rita (the name is constantly changing)

HXPN already up 500% in the past week with insiders accumulating.
Huge events are driving HXPN way up. This one is still trading at only a
fraction of its book value. A massive PR campaign has kicked off with
some exciting news:
_____________________________________________________________

Just yesterday, I've started noticing a different type of spam. Now, they're adding the word "- News Service" to the Sender's name and a news headline in the Subject Line.

Here's a sample of the email:

________________________________________________________________
From: R. Mcgowan - News Service
Subject: School sent parents 'obese student' warnings

The hottest pick this year!
It just doesn't get any better than this. Booming sector, tightly held, with an incredible PR blitz starting up. Not only that, but the company is set to release some smashing news.
Physicians Adult Daycare, Inc.
Symbol: PHYA
Current Price: $1.65
Short-Term Projected Price: $4.25
Long-Term Target Price: $10.20

My concerns are is they are using my email address to send out spam to others. I started wondering if there are any software that are downloaded on my pc that is sending out spam to others. I ran several anti-virus and anti-spyware software but didnt find any.

What I'm wondering more is, are there actually people who buys these stocks from these spam emails?

Yahoo Sponsored Search Account Upgrade

Yahoo finally upgraded 2 of our client's accounts. First thing I noticed in the upgrade site is that they got rid of that annoying code verification required for you to enter.

The new site is an improvement but still needs a lot of getting used to. In one of our client's account which had several keywords divided into several campaigns, the keywords were all jumbled into different campaigns and so will require some reorganization.
